How Jambalaya Made History
February 8, 2023Returning for its 10th anniversary, the Annapolis St. Patrick’s Parade is a proud celebration of the Chesapeake Bay region’s Irish heritage and culture. This annual event is Annapolis’s biggest public gathering. Be sure to mark your calendar for the parade on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
The parade highlights the city’s Irish Week festivities, and many restaurants, bars, and shops will offer specials during the festivities. The parade has raised funds for several important Annapolis charities over the years.
Organizer and Performances
A Marine Corps veteran with Irish ancestry, John O’Leary has organized the Annapolis St. Patrick’s Parade with energy and enthusiasm since the event made its debut in 2013.
Every year from the beginning, O’Leary puts in long hours to recruit the best marching bands and other entertainers from the Chesapeake Bay, the rest of the country, and occasionally Canada to strut their stuff at the parade.
Fortunately, O’Leary can always rely on the most popular local marching band, the U.S. Naval Academy Pipes and Drums, whose musicians are kilt-wearing midshipmen.

2023 Annapolis St. Patrick’s Hooley
The 8th annual Annapolis Irish Week Kick Off Hooley has been rescheduled for a new day this year. Instead of Saturday, it will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 5-10 pm.
Held at Susan B. Campbell Park at Annapolis City Dock, the event is recognized as the official Irish Parade Kick-Off Party. The 2023 Hooley will be a special opportunity for enjoying all that is truly Irish in music, traditional food, an open bar, family, and friends.
