A fun Annapolis tradition, The First Sunday Arts Festival (FSAF) is an arts and crafts show held the first Sunday of every month from May through November every year. This year FSAF blasts off on May 7, 2023.
The event features regional and local artists numbering more than 100 on each occasion. There will also be musicians, street performers, and dancers providing entertainment. Thousands of locals and tourists attend every year to shop and enjoy the festivities.
FSAF all began in 2001 when two popular art receptions held simultaneously at the ARTFX gallery and 49 West Coffeehouse overflowed with people onto the sidewalks every first Sunday night of the month. The following year, other businesses on West Street started to participate, and the event transformed into a day-long event named the First Sunday Arts Festival.
Due to needed improvements, West Street was closed to traffic for a prolonged period in 2003, and FSAF spread onto the pavement. By the time construction was completed, the event had become so popular that West Street was officially closed from May through October that year on the first Sunday of every month.
Every FSAF event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on every first Sunday of the month, from May to November, rain or shine. The First Sunday Arts Festival is free and family-friendly. Parking is nearby at Gott’s Court and Whitmore Garage on Calvert Street.
Stop by The Crab Shack before or after attending the First Sunday Arts Festival.
