Not Just for Eating
February 28, 2021The state of Maryland is known for its crabs and seafood. There are two major cities in Maryland, Baltimore and Annapolis, both surrounded by multiple smaller cities and suburbs. For the people located in these suburbs and the outskirts of Annapolis or Baltimore, they often have to drive into one of these cities to have access to the restaurants that provide the seafood that they crave. This comes with the inconvenience of driving, sometimes as much as 45 minutes to an hour, into the city, dealing with the crowds, waiting for a table, and all of the stress that comes with it. When the family of owners at The Crab Shack decided to open new restaurants in Maryland, they were determined to bring the high quality seafood dining experience to the suburbs, and they found the perfect locations.
Founded in the fall of 1964, Crofton, Maryland, was named after a small township in Cumberland County, England, because its founders wanted to give the town an English name that “sounds like a pleasant place to live.” Developed on a 1,600-acre piece of land that included a golf course and a pond, Crofton was listed as one of Money Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Live in the United States twice in 2007 and 2011. Boasting great schools, shopping, dining, entertainment, as well as being a safe place to live, Crofton turned out to be a perfect location for The Crab Shack. Located just down the road from the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre, The Crab Shack in Crofton is the perfect place to come and experience a wonderful Maryland seafood dinner, followed by shopping, bowling, or a movie, without dealing with the headache of driving into the city.
The Crab Shack had found a home in Crofton, but it was looking for one more location to plant some roots, and that place turned out to be Edgewater, Maryland. Located just south of Annapolis, Edgewater is an up-and-coming community located just off of the South River. Edgewater is home to some of the best schools in Southern Anne Arundel County, and has easy access to the city with the major roadway, Solomons Island Road, running right through the middle of the town providing easy access to multiple other thoroughfares. The Crab Shack in Edgewater has a prime location right in the middle of town, and is just five minutes down the road from shopping and entertainment.
The Crab Shack in Crofton provides a beautiful private room for special occasions, and Edgewater has the perfect place to entertain your kids while you wait. With each restaurant offering their own unique amenities, and the same authentic Maryland seafood dinners, they have provided much needed local dining to the communities of Edgewater and Crofton and are excited to be prominent members of the community for years to come.
