How to Throw a Crab Feast – Part 1
May 4, 2021As a service member in the restaurant industry for many years, I often reflect on those years. The years I chose to spend dedicating myself to taking care of others, as opposed to pursuing a career in marketing, my area of study in college. I have been asked many times why I did not choose to use my degree and pursue a “traditional” career path, and I have been asked if I have any regrets.
The short answer to these questions is No. Not for a second. I have always been driven to help people. I feel like it is my calling in life, to help others. I wake up every day with the goal to leave everyone that I come across just a little bit better than they were before we ran into each other.
I applied this mentality towards every single guest I had the pleasure of serving in my career, and it is this mentality that is instilled in each member of the staff at The Crab Shack in Crofton and Edgewater. The number one quality you will find in your experience at The Crab Shack is that you will be treated like part of the family.
Customer Service
There are two types of servers in the restaurant industry; there are order takers, and there are servers. The order taker comes to the table, takes your order, brings you your food, your drinks, and your bill, and that is it. There will be no real personal interaction, no helpful attitude, and you leave the restaurant feeling like a notch on the belt. The server is there to walk you through the menu.
They will make recommendations, not based on which items will boost the check in a hope to increase their tip by a few pennies, but based on the items that they truly love. I would always recommend what I was planning on having for dinner that night. The server is going to make sure that the water glasses are always filled, that you always have silverware, that your table is cleared of anything that does not need to be there any longer. A server anticipates your needs even before you realize them. A server makes you feel at home, and leaves you feeling like you were a guest.
At The Crab Shack in Crofton and Edgewater, you will not find any order takers. Only servers are qualified to take care of the guests at The Crab Shack. Between the impeccable food, and the unparalleled service, The Crab Shack in Crofton and Edgewater is the only choice for crabs in Maryland.
